As a Parent or Guardian of a Child Participating in Great Neck PAL
Your Responsibilities to Your Child’s Team Are:

1. To attend all League and Team Meetings

2. Keep facilities clean ---- use trash containers

3. Remember proper field conduct:

* Root for the Teams and acknowledge good plays by either team

* Non-players must STAY OUT of Dugouts, Off Fields, and Out of Buildings

(without authorization)

* Abide by all Park Regulations

4. Booing and Negative Displays are never in order and should be discouraged in others

5. SHOW SUPPORT FOR THE CHILDREN WHILE THEY PLAY

 

THE PROMISE THAT YOU MADE:

I/We hereby pledge to provide positive support, care, and encouragement for my child participating in PAL
by following this Parents' Code of League Ethics and Responsibilities:

To encourage good sportsmanship by demonstrating positive support for all players, managers, coaches, and officials at every game, practice or other league activities.

To place the emotional and physical well being of my child ahead of a personal desire to win.

To insist that my child play in a safe and healthy environment.

To support the manager, coaches, and officials working with my child, in order to encourage a positive and enjoyable experience for all.

To maintain a sports environment for my child that is free of drugs, tobacco, and alcohol, and to refrain from their use at all PAL events.

To remember that the game is for children - not for the adults.

To do my very best to make PAL fun for my child.

To ask my child to treat other players, managers, coaches, spectators, and League Officials with respect regardless of race, sex, creed, or ability.

To review with my child the PAL Code of Conduct and to encourage the positive aspect of the sport at all times.

 

GREAT NECK P.A.L. RULES OF CONDUCT  

The following are the Rules of Conduct as they apply to Players, Coaches, League Officials, Parents and Spectators. Listed next to each
 infraction are the guidelines for
penalties specified by PAL. The Board of Directors of the Great Neck PAL may, if circumstances warrant, impose different penalties.  In all cases, a player or coach includes  both PAL players and coaches and those of the opposing teams. Officials include anyone serving  in an official capacity within PAL, a tournament or league official. 

SANCTIONS WILL BE IMPOSED BY THE COMMISSIONER WITH CONSULTATION WITH THE UMPIRE(S) AND COACHES

THE PENALTIES MAY BE IMPOSED BY THE GREAT NECK PAL EXECUTIVE BOARD WITH CONSULTATION WITH THE UMPIRE(S) AND COACHES.

 

 

RULES AS THEY APPLY TO THE CONDUCT FOR PLAYERS:

INFRACTION

DIRECTED TOWARDS

PENALTY

     

Use of alcohol, tobacco or other illegal substances

In connection with any game, practice, or other league or team event at any facility

Exclusion from the event and one game suspension.

Letter to League from Parent of Guardian expressing corrective measures to assure future compliance signed by Parent or Guardian and child.

Foul or abusive language or gesture

Another Player, coach or Spectator*.

An Umpire or Official

Ejection from game or practice.

Ejection from game. Letter of apology to individual with a copy to the League.

Serious foul play

Another Player (no injury)

Another Player resulting in injury

Ejection from game or practice

Ejection from game. Letter of apology to individual with a copy to the League

Threatening gesture and/or language

A Player, Coach, Official, or Spectator

Ejection from game and a 2 game minimum suspension.

2ND occurrences of above infractions

 

Suspension for balance if season. Letter from parent expressing steps taken to ensure no recurrence signed by Parent or Guardian and Child.

Kicking, striking, or bodily assault

A Player, Coach, Official or Spectator

Ejection from game and a 4 game suspension. Letter from parent expressing steps taken to ensure no reoccurrence signed by Parent or Guardian and Child.

Kicking, striking, or bodily assault 2ND offense, same season

A Player, Coach, Official or Spectator

Suspension from PAL for one year. Letter from parent expressing steps taken to ensure no recurrence signed by Parent or Guardian and Child.

 



RULES AS THEY APPLY TO COACHES, AND LEAGUE OFFICIALS:

During game or practice

Ejection from the event and one game suspension.

Knowingly requiring or allowing a player to play while having a serious injury or knowingly creating unsafe play conditions.

 

Suspension for the season.

Playing a non registered child

 

Suspension for season

Foul or abusive language

A Player, Coach, Official, or Spectator*

Ejection from game or practice and one game suspension.

Threatening gesture and/or language

An Umpire or Official



A Player, Coach, League Official or Spectator.

Ejection from game and a 1 game suspension.

Ejection from game and a 2 game suspension.

Allowing or encouraging foul, abusive or threatening language or behavior by managers, coaches, players, parents, or spectators.

A Player, Coach, League Official, or Spectator

Ejection from game and a 2 game suspension.

Striking, or bodily assault.

A Player, Coach, League Official, or Spectator

Ejection from game and a 1 year suspension from all PAL activities.

Striking, or bodily assault 2nd OFFENSE

 

Permanent suspension from all PAL activities.

 

RULES AS THEY APPLY TO PARENTS AND SPECTATORS:

Use of alcohol or illegal substances

Within park during game, practice or other league or team event where players are present.

Ejection from event.*

Interference with the conduct of the game resulting in stoppage of play.

 

Warning.

Interference with the conduct of the game 2nd OFFENSE, same season.

 

Ejection from the facility.*

Foul or abusive language

A Player, Coach, or League Official.

Ejection from the event.*

Threatening gesture and/or language.

A Player, Coach, League Official or Spectator.

Ejection from the event* and a 1 week suspension from attendance or participation.

Striking in any threatening fashion.

A Player, Coach, League Official or Spectator.

Ejection from the event* and a 1 year suspension from attendance or participation.

Striking in any threatening fashion2nd OFFENSE.

A Player, Manager, Coach, League Official or Spectator.

Permanent suspension from all PAL activities.

* Event includes the respective playing fields

* Failure to leave the event upon request may result in the forfeiture of the game by your children’s team

* The penalties may be imposed by the Commissioner with consultation with the umpire(s), referee(s) and coaches.
